I was introduced to Science and Technology Studies at the University of Maastricht as an undergraduate. I found it liberating. I started researching social and cultural dimensions of the deployment of visual technologies, especially in medicine, and happily carried on with this during and beyond my graduate studies in Social History of Medicine, and later Management Studies, at the University of Oxford. Since 2008, I've been teaching and developing courses for undergraduates at the National University of Singapore (NUS). All of these courses draw in some way on content and/or sensibilities I associate with STS. Since 2011, I work with colleagues and students on the interdisciplinary seminar-curriculum of Tembusu College at NUS.
